Sydney University Graduate Choir presents: Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle

The final 2018 concert of the Sydney University Graduate Choir features the Sydney University Graduate Chamber Choir performing Rossini's exquisite Petite Messe Solennelle in its original instrumentation for two pianos and harmonium.

This instrumentation, reminiscent of elevated salon music, creates an unmistakeable timbre, while Rossini's typical rhythm provides the operatic flair to the Mass. Full of drama, colour and intensity, Rossini labelled this work not without irony, as petitie (little).

The Choir will be led by Christopher Bowen OAM, who will be joined onstage by an amazing line-up of soloists: Elke Hook (Soprano), Ahslyn Tymms (Alto), Ben Oxley (Tenor) and David Hidden (Bass).
