Pianist

El Kid is Opera Australia's highly imaginative retelling of the Billy Goats Gruff, set to the music of the opera Carmen by Bizet. With elements of Cinderella and other well-known fables, the work, devised by director Liesel Badorrek and Michael Badorrek, explores "the courage you find when you believe in yourself, using the popular tunes of Bizet's Carmen to introduce the drama of opera to primary-school aged students."

With more than 400 performances accross the year and touring to more than 200 schools, the show is a fantastic way of introducing kids to the world of opera. Every show includes a Q&A session in which the students get to ask about the rehearsal process, the set, the costumes, the scores... allowing them to engage with the cast, breaking the barrier that we often find with opera.
